Candlelight Concerts – The Best of Hans Zimmer

The string quartet, made up of a Cello, Viola and two Violins, were wonderful - expressive, tight, and clearly enjoying the music. One of the musicians introduced each piece with a short story or bit of background, which added a lovely personal touch and made the programme feel more like a guided journey than a simple run‑through of Zimmer’s greatest hits.

The setlist covered a huge range of his work: Time from Inception, This Land, Supermarine, the Wonder Woman and Gladiator suites, Cornfield Chase, and of course the Pirates of the Caribbean finale. Even with the short one‑hour format (including a 15‑minute interval), it never felt rushed, just a tight, well‑paced celebration of Zimmer’s music.
It was one of those evenings where everything clicked: the candlelit setting, the packed audience, the musicianship, and the sheer emotional pull of Zimmer’s scores. If this is the standard, Fever’s upcoming Candlelight concerts in Milton Keynes are absolutely worth checking out and they’re not just sticking to Hans Zimmer.
Fever has a whole calendar of Candlelight events lined up, covering everything from classical favourites to film scores and contemporary artists. They’re genuinely great value for money, especially considering the atmosphere and quality of the performances. If you’re looking for something a bit different to do in Milton Keynes, something immersive, relaxing and beautifully put together, these concerts are a brilliant option.
