Understanding Parking in Milton Keynes

Parking in Milton Keynes City Centre can feel confusing but once you know, you know, and it's quite easy: Long-stay Blue bays: £10 all day, ideal for full-day shopping trips. Standard Purple bays: £0.50/hr (minimum 2 hours), often free after 6pm — perfect for late night shopping. Premium Red bays: £2/hr, located close to main entrances and attractions for quick access. All the bays are council operated and can be paid for with the Ringo app. When paying with Ringo, additional charges may apply. Multi-storey private car parks are available across the City. Milton Keynes Theatre / 12th Street

Heading to the theatre in Milton Keynes? Convenient parking is available near the main venues:

  • Surface level parking is available around the theatre and 12th Street. These are premium red bays, but free after 6pm.
  • Centre:mk multi-storey car park is opposite the theatre, with ample spaces and accessible bays. Plus its free after 6pm.
  • Plenty of disabled parking in Milton Keynes close to theatre entrances for easy access.

centre:mk Shopping Centre

If you are going shopping in Milton Keynes, there are plenty of surface level parking options close to centre:mk - premium red bays are nearest the shopping centre, while the cheaper purple bays are further out.

centre:mk also has it's own multi-storey car park which is located behind John Lewis & Partners on Marlborough Gate (Sat Nav: MK9 3EP).

This car park offers over 1,400 spaces, including parent & child bays, 80 disabled bays, and electric vehicle charging points*. The ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) system calculates charges on exit, while bay sensors and “find my car” technology help you locate and remember your space.

Height restrictions: Ground floor 2.6 m (8’5”), other floors 2.2 m (7’2”).
Charges: Apply 6 am–6 pm, 7 days a week; free after 6 pm*.

Midsummer Place Shopping Centre

When shopping in Milton Keynes you can also choose the Midsummer Place Multi-Storey Car Park which provides convenient access directly into the shopping centre. It offers standard bays, disabled parking spaces, and electric vehicle charging points*.

Milton Keynes Central Station

The MK Central station Car park is open 24/7. It's multistorey and 502 standard bays, 20 blue badge bays and 12 parent and child bays. Parking is free for motorbikes if they are parking in designated motorcycle parking bays. A daily peak ticket costs £12.80 (before 10am), while at weekends and bank holidays its £6.30.*

Height restriction: 2.1 m (6’10”) in multi-storey sections.
Charges: Daily, long-stay, and season ticket options available.

Xscape Milton Keynes

Blue Bays - Xscape Parking

The area nearest to the building is owned by Xscape and managed by Saba Park Services. This area is clearly signed Xscape Car Park. All Xscape owned bays are marked with a blue line and payment should be made in a blue machine.

Purple Bays - Council Owned Parking

The car park around Xscape is split into two different sections, the outer section is Council owned and managed by NSL (the purple area). All entrances into the car park are clearly marked as such. All Council bays are marked with a purple line and payment should be made in a black machine.

In adjoining areas there are two sets of Parking Meters, both clearly marked with the areas that their tickets are valid for. Please double check that you are putting money into the correct meter - black machine for Council bays and blue machine for Xscape bays.

The Hub / Midtown

If you're heading to the restaurants, bars and other businesses in and around the Hub area you will be able to find plenty of on-street parking nearby, in purple bays at just 50p an hour.

There is also the Sainsburys Car Park opposite The Hub, which is an underground car park, where you can park for up to 3 hours for free.

If you are staying in one of the hotels at The Hub, check first with their reception desks for parking options as they may have agreed preferential rates for guests.
