Midsummer Place launches free sensory bags to support shoppers with additional needs

Launched on Purple Tuesday (4 November), the initiative highlights the centre’s ongoing commitment to creating a more inclusive and comfortable shopping experience for everyone.

The Sensory Bags are free to use during a visit and can be borrowed by asking a member of the team or calling 01908 557000. Each bag contains items such as fidget toys, noise-cancelling ear defenders, and other sensory aids to help create a calmer, more manageable environment for visitors who may find busy shopping areas overwhelming.

Purple Tuesday is a global movement dedicated to improving the customer experience for disabled people and promoting accessibility and inclusion across all sectors. By introducing the Sensory Bags, Midsummer Place aligns with the campaign’s mission to make everyday activities — like shopping — more welcoming and accessible to all.

The Sensory Bags have been available since Tuesday 4 November and can be collected by contacting the number provided on signage throughout the centre or by speaking directly to a member of the Midsummer Place team.

A deposit is required to borrow a bag, which is fully refunded when it is returned.
