Nick said: “It’s been incredibly rewarding to mentor young talent and give back to the community. The hospitality industry can be tough to break into, so supporting apprentices on their journey is something I’m really passionate about. I’ve particularly enjoyed working with Chloe, who has shown outstanding dedication and skill over the past 18 months.”
Chloe Matthews, one of Unity Place’s standout apprentices, is currently studying Commis Chef Level 2 at MK College while working at
In an exciting development, Chloe has also been selected for a prestigious two-week accredited culinary course in Thailand, which begins during National Apprenticeship Week—an incredible opportunity to refine her skills and gain international experience.
Reflecting on her journey, Chloe said: “I was planning to return to college full-time, but when I learned about the apprenticeship, I realised it was the perfect way to earn and learn simultaneously. The practical experience I’ve gained at Unity Place has been invaluable—something I couldn’t have picked up in a classroom alone.”
Nick added: “The results have been fantastic. Our apprentices bring fresh energy and creativity to the business while we provide them with real-world experience and career opportunities. We hope to expand the programme in the future, giving even more young people a chance to develop their skills.”
As she prepares for her culinary adventure in Thailand, Chloe is excited for the future: “This experience has given me so much confidence. I love pastry, and my goal is to work my way up in a top hotel or restaurant, specialising in it. I’m excited to keep learning and growing.”
