Running from 4pm–7pm, this sell-out event brought incredible energy, fantastic entertainment and a room full of people ready to sing, dance and have a brilliant time.
Now, we weren’t there for the brunch itself — our mission was to soak up the atmosphere, experience the show and take in the venue — but it quickly became clear why these events are so popular in Milton Keynes City Centre. This was another fantastic example of the diverse and vibrant events scene happening right here in the city.
From the moment Vicki Vivacious took to the floor, the atmosphere was electric. The crowd were fully invested from start to finish, singing at the top of their lungs, dancing in their seats and embracing every moment of the show. Vicki’s humour was razor sharp, with perfectly timed innuendos and hilarious crowd interaction that had tables erupting with laughter throughout the afternoon.
What really stood out was the mix of people enjoying the event together. There was a real blend of both the straight and gay community, all united by great music, plenty of prosecco and the shared mission of having an unforgettable Saturday afternoon. It felt inclusive, welcoming and genuinely joyful — exactly what a drag brunch should be.
Musically, Vicki absolutely delivered. The setlist was packed with iconic singalong classics, including hits from Shania Twain, Spice Girls, Tina Turner and Whitney Houston, alongside a standout performance of Hopelessly Devoted to You from Grease. These are the kinds of songs that instantly transform everyone into a superstar for the afternoon — and judging by the crowd participation, there were plenty of honorary Whitneys in the room!
Although we hadn’t planned on eating much, the atmosphere definitely gave us the munchies, so we ordered a few snacks to share — Pork Belly, Garlic Flatbread and a bowl of chips — and every dish was delicious. The Residence certainly delivered on the food front as well as the entertainment.
The venue itself deserves a mention too.
The Residence Bar & Kitchen is beautifully designed, with a stylish interior and an unusual U-shaped layout surrounding the central bar, which really helped create an immersive and sociable atmosphere. It felt lively from every angle and allowed Vicki to work the entire room brilliantly.
And speaking of working the room — huge credit must go to Vicki for handling some unexpected microphone issues like a total professional. Technical hiccups never slowed the energy down for a second. Special mention also goes to Sebastian, the manager, who spent much of the set following Vicki around with the microphone lead in hand to keep the show running smoothly. Teamwork at its finest!
Vicki Vivacious is clearly a born entertainer who genuinely loves performing and connecting with an audience. Her charisma, humour and stage presence completely carried the afternoon, and the crowd absolutely loved every minute of it.
As the sun streamed through the windows and the prosecco flowed, this felt like the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon in Milton Keynes City Centre. Fun, lively, inclusive and packed with feel-good energy — Drag Brunch at The Residence is an experience well worth booking.
And the good news? The next event is taking place on Saturday 6th June — and if this sell-out show was anything to go by, you’ll want to book quickly!
