Maaya Indian Kitchen & Bar ✨

This wasn’t my first visit to
Maaya, but it was my first time trying their lunchtime offering.
The Thali is designed as a complete Indian meal, bringing together a selection of dishes and accompaniments for a generous and satisfying lunch, all for £12.95 per person.
Tucked slightly away from the main thoroughfare of
The Hub, Maaya is one of those restaurants that you could easily walk past without realising quite how special it is. Those who do venture inside are rewarded with exceptional food and warm hospitality – and after nearly a decade of success, it’s a place that deserves to be discovered by many more people.
What we had
Our Thalis arrived on a large silver platter – visually impressive and immediately inviting – with the chosen main dish taking centre stage and an array of sides and condiments arranged around it. I opted for the Chicken Tikka Masala, while my colleague chose the Sweet Chilli Chicken, which had a tangy kick to it.
Alongside the mains were pilau rice, naan, a vegetable samosa, chana masala, jeera potatoes, raitha, salad, and lime pickle. The portion size is substantial – very much a main meal rather than a light lunch – and exceptional value for money.
The chicken tikka masala was rich, creamy and full of flavour, while the sweet chilli chicken delivered warmth and spice without overpowering the dish. The Thali as a whole was delicious, bursting with authentic flavour's and just the right level of heat. It’s the kind of lunch that leaves you already planning your return visit.
A decade of success
Since opening its doors nearly a decade ago, Maaya has grown into one of Milton Keynes’ most celebrated independent restaurants. Inspired by the diverse and vibrant flavours of India, owner Mo Abdul and his team have built a loyal following thanks to their commitment to authenticity, quality and warm hospitality. Over the years, Maaya has received multiple accolades, including recognition at local and national food awards, cementing its reputation as a go-to destination for outstanding Indian cuisine in the city. Speaking with Mo during our visit, his passion for the journey so far – and for continuing to evolve the menu with even more of the incredible flavour's that inspire him – was clear.
More than just great food
Maaya is beautifully decorated, setting the perfect ambiance for a lunchtime team lunch, an evening meal with family or friends, or even a relaxed weekend afternoon tea. The friendly and attentive staff elevate the experience further, making you feel genuinely welcome from the moment you arrive.
10th Anniversary celebrations
To mark this milestone, Maaya is hosting a one-night-only anniversary celebration on Thursday 27 February from 7pm. The evening promises exceptional food, vibrant entertainment and a real sense of celebration.
