Sam Ryder to Star in Jesus Christ Superstar at Milton Keynes Theatre

Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar is heading to Milton Keynes Theatre as part of a major new UK tour, with singer-songwriter Sam Ryder taking on the title role.

Following acclaimed runs at The London Palladium and Theatre Royal Drury Lane, the production will visit the milton keynes theatre logo is blue and white with a red stripe .Milton Keynes Theatre from Tue 27 – Sat 31 July 2027.

Produced by Michael Harrison for Lloyd Webber Harrison Musicals, the tour will give audiences across the UK the chance to experience Tim Sheader's celebrated production, which reunites the creative team behind the Olivier Award-winning 2016 revival.

Set during the final days of Jesus Christ's life and told through the eyes of Judas, Jesus Christ Superstar has captivated audiences around the world for more than five decades. Its legendary rock score features some of musical theatre's most memorable songs, including I Don't Know How to Love Him, Gethsemane and Superstar.

Originally released as a concept album before making its Broadway debut in 1971, the show went on to become a global phenomenon. The original London production ran for more than eight years and, with 3,358 performances, became the longest-running musical in West End history at the time.

This latest production is directed by Tim Sheader, with choreography by Olivier Award-winner Drew McOnie and design by Tony and Olivier Award-winner Tom Scutt. The creative team also includes musical supervisor Tom Deering, lighting designer Lee Curran, sound designer Adam Fisher, wigs, hair and makeup designers Sam Cox and Maria Johal, fight director Kate Waters and casting directors Grindrod Burton Casting.
