A man and child sit on a bench, viewed from behind, facing a large window wall decorated with festive string lights and red ornaments in an indoor public space.

In the video, released this week, a young girl in a red coat arrives at the shopping centre with her grandfather, driven by a single purpose – to share messages of kindness and positivity. As she moves through Midsummer Place, she approaches strangers and hands them red, handwritten notes. Their genuine reactions are captured on camera, becoming a key part of the story.

After spreading joy, the film concludes with the little girl sitting on a bench with her grandfather, giving him a note that reads: “I miss nanny too. I love you xx”. The scene fades out with the two sharing a touching hug.

The message is simple: kindness is the greatest gift we can give. “Kindness costs nothing, but means everything,” says Kirsty McGiff, Marketing Manager at a white letter m on a blue backgroundMidsummer Place. “At a time of year when life gets busy and the pressure to find the perfect gift is high, we wanted to remind everyone that the greatest gift we can give is compassion, connection and human kindness.”

The video has already garnered thousands of views and comments, and can be watched on Instagram here: Instagram or on Facebook here: (20+) Facebook.

Midsummer Place encourages everyone — shoppers, retailers, families, and friends — to join this mission. “Whether it’s a smile, a helping hand, or simply being present,” McGiff adds, “every small act can make a big difference.”
