First staged in 2009, the original iD became a global phenomenon for Canadian circus innovators Cirque Éloize. Now, the show bursts back to life as iD Reloaded—making its world premiere on Dance Consortium’s UK autumn tour and marking the company’s first UK return since 2019.

Directed and created by co-founder Jeannot Painchaud—himself a former acrobatic bike artist—iD Reloaded is a thrilling cocktail of high-octane circus skills, urban dance, breakdance, hip hop and b-boying/b-girling. Louder, brighter, and even more daring than its predecessor, this 75-minute spectacle will leave you breathless.

Set against the backdrop of a pulsing city—sometimes futuristic, sometimes ancient—iD Reloaded is like West Side Story reimagined through hip hop and circus. It’s a place where anything is possible, and everyone can be who they want to be.

A nine-strong international cast brings a dazzling array of talents: aerials, contortion, juggling, trampoline, Chinese pole, trial bike and more, all performed against a kaleidoscope of eye-popping projections and a pulsating soundtrack by Jean-Phi Goncalves (aka Beast) and Alex McMahon.

Jeannot Painchaud says: “iD in its first version was questioning the diverse identity within a community. The evolution of the dance and acrobatic scene in 15 years is remarkable. iD Reloaded is a visual fest, still fun and energetic, more cartoon-like and colourful. It’s in complete resonance with the challenges that our teenagers are facing, where screen shots and “likes” constantly change your image and create new identities. What’s real and what’s not? Who am I? In this extraordinary period of time, it’s more important than ever to celebrate our differences and our sense of community. Welcome to iD Reloaded!”

Presented by Dance Consortium, a group of 23 leading UK and Irish venues bringing world-class international dance to local stages, this electrifying new production is a must-see.
