This year, the fair is bigger, bolder and bursting with bookish creativity. Book lovers of all kinds are invited to discover one of the UK’s most exciting celebrations of independent writing.
Bringing together 100 independently published authors and small presses, this year’s fair showcases the incredible variety of contemporary storytelling. From crime and mystery to fantasy, sci-fi, memoir, poetry, children’s books, YA adventures, humour, travel writing and much more, there’s something to tempt every reader. Meet the writers shaping the future of British indie publishing, discover your next favourite author and take home beautiful books you won’t find anywhere else.
Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy:
- Live Readings
Hear authors share short extracts from their latest work, hosted by Caz Tricks of Stony Radio’s Stony Sunrise Breakfast Show.
Main Stage Panels
The evolving programme of talks explores the heart of indie creativity, with lively discussions covering:
- How small presses and self-published authors are changing the UK book landscape
- Worldbuilding across fantasy, sci-fi, horror and speculative fiction
Hosted by Donna Scott of The Slab Press, alongside guest authors, editors and indie publishers, these sessions offer insight, inspiration and the opportunity to ask questions directly to the writers and creators.
Children’s Activity Zone
Running from 11:00–16:00, the Children’s Area is packed with workshops, readings and hands-on creative activities. Led by children’s authors and supported by friendly volunteers, it’s a welcoming space where young storytellers can draw, imagine, listen and play. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and tickets can be booked through MK Indie Book Fair | MK Lit Fest 2026.
